ES&H Services Support

Introduction

The client section is responsible for providing the management systems, processes and technical support that enable the client to achieve the mission while maintaining a safe, secure, compliant and environmentally responsible workplace.
The client division supports all line organizations through competent professionals by either providing project-deliverable type work (e.g., reports, training courses, etc.), or work based on the delivery of labor (e.g., safety oversight of construction projects).

Scope of Work

Field Safety and Health Support to the client .

Responsibilities associated with this support include, but are not limited to:

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing health and safety.
Excavation inspections
Conduct field safety observations and drive all solutions in the field and when necessary seeking guidance from Project and other routine operations
Provide oversight, and facilitate daily contractor safety readiness to include program review of Hazard Analysis, fall protection plans, excavation plans, confine space permits, ladder safety, electrical safety, lock out/tag out, personal protective equipment, vehicle safety, waste management compliance, environmental compliance, etc.
Assist Field Safety staff and/or Construction Coordinator with the planning and hazard mitigation of identified high hazard contractor activities.
Assist Division Safety officers on an as needed basis with eye wash/chemical shower inspections
Conduct safety trainings and practical trainings for all levels of employees, principal investigatorsand researchers
Review the project-specific safety manuals submitted by contractors. Active participation in work control permits and evaluation process.
Verify subcontractor training certification, hazard assessments, and logistic plans.
Facilitate incident investigation process to ensure root cause identification and lesson learned sharing across the program.
Monitor code compliance and periodically reviewing contractor performance and documentation compliance.
Provide daily updates on projects to the client Field Safety contact.
Provide support after hours and/or weekends

Professional Qualifications and Certification Requirements :

Education: Minimum of a BS in Safety or a related field or an additional 5 years of construction safety experience, in lieu of a degree.
Strong background in excavation safety
Writing and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving skills are usually required. Computer skills are also important, since it is necessary to create safety reports, inspection checklists and budgets for safety programs. Familiarity with local, state and federal safety rules and regulations is also a must.
Must be a self-starting, multi-tasker with a winning attitude. Must have excellent follow- up skills. Must be team oriented, professional, articulate, polished, personable and have an outgoing personality in order to succeed in this position. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with ability to adapt to different scenarios and deal with multiple types of personalities / working environments Strong team player, yet can function at a high level on individual assignments and responsibilities.

Note :

Assist Field Safety staff and/or Construction Coordinator with the planning and hazard mitigation of identified high hazard contractor activities.-AND-Strong background in excavation safety.
Construction PPE (ie: hard hat, safety toed boots, safety glasses, retro reflective vests, gloves) will be required.
This position is a field position and entering areas for inspection purposes will be required.
This person will be visiting job sites including construction areas.
