Job Description

Job Summary

The cleint is looking for a motivated and talented programmer to work with our team to adapt and implement codes for stitching, alignment, and segmentation of electron microscopy image stacks. We seek a candidate comfortable with Python, CV/ML, and image data, specifically including: (1) computer vision approaches to template- and feature-matching, (2) neural networks written in TensorFlow, and (3) efficient work distribution, ideally in the context of a cluster/HPC computing environment.

This position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of grant funding.
• Adapts existing code and develops new code for image stitching and alignment using algorithms from OpenCV and implemented directly.
• Adapts existing code and develops new code for image segmentation using a combination of neural networks and computer vision algorithms.
• Implements testing facilities for above code, possibly using CI, for tracking accuracy and performance.
• Maintains, implements, and tests modules in cooperation with the Manager and departments utilizing best practices for software development, including automated testing, proper execution of specifications, adherence to documentation standards, and participation in implementation and configuration reviews.
• Investigates, analyzes and resolves day-to-day technical problems using standard procedures.
• Works with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for developmental programs. Receives a moderate level of guidance to design applications to meet client and business requirements.
• Performs code testing on components and works to ensure that appropriate implementation standards are met. Evaluates design alternatives for development cost and solutions using various methods.
• Supports and maintains existing applications. Works with web developers and responds to requests from users.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
• Python and supporting libraries, particularly NumPy.
• Familiarity with parallel programming (mpi4py in particular).
• Experience in or the ability to learn (quickly) AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Preferred Competencies
• Work on interdisciplinary teams with domain scientists.
• Teamwork, the ability to work in a team and tackle hard problems in a distributed version control environment.
• Natural curiosity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
