Description :HPC Systems Administration (Specialist Assistance II)The client is a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center, where researchers from industry, academia, and government address vital national challenges in basic sciences, engineering, and national security. As a member of the client High Performance Computing (HPC) team, you will directly work with world class machines and emergent technologies alongside scientific staff and research colleagues within the division.The selected individual will primarily assist with the configuration and daily operations of a large HPC system.The selected individual will be proficient with Linux, be interested in HPC workflows, and be able to work directly with other systems administrators to ensure the continued reliability and sustainability of the client systeQualifications: The following are key skills / experience for this position in order of priority.Position Requirements:Experience with Ansible or equivalent configuration management tools is requiredWorking knowledge of Linux, with an emphasis on OS installation and upgrading, package building and management, common services and applications, and troubleshootingExperience with Git, BitBucket, SVN or other version control platformsExperience with software packaging, building software from source, and dynamic linkingWorking knowledge of scripting languagesAbility to write concise documentationAbility to work effectively as a member of a teamFlexibility in handling assignments and working on several projects simultaneouslySkills good to have:Knowledge of HPC systems architecture and workflowsKnowledge of the scientific applicationsKnowledge of parallel and cluster file systems such as Lustre and GPFSUnderstanding of MPI implementations such as MPICH and LAMSKnowledge of high-performance networking technologies such as InfinibandKnowledge of high-performance computing techniques, graphics, and visualizationExperience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databasesExperience with software packaging, building software from source, and dynamic linkingExperience working in a Continuous Integration environmentExperience with software build tools such as CMake, Make, or AutotoolsNote :This position can either be an on-site , or a full-time remote position. Limited remote work may be available after an initial training / integration period.It is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.
