Description:Position SummaryThe Certified Home Health/Hospice Aide (CHHA) works under the supervision of an RN or therapist, providing personal care services to support patient comfort and independence. The CHHA documents patient observations, reports changes promptly, and supports continuity and safety in patient care.This role does not include any duties considered nursing practice per state Nurse Practice Act (e.g., administering medication, taking orders, sterile procedures).Required Certifications & LicensureActive Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification in California – in good standingCurrent BLSRegistered on the Home Care Aide Registry (CA DSS – Home Care Services Bureau)Valid driver’s license + insured, reliable vehicleRequired Skills & ExperienceExperience providing personal care in Home Health and/or HospiceAbility to work independently in the field and maintain professionalism in patient homesStrong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skillsDemonstrated competency with equipment and technology used for patient careKnowledge of infection control protocolsAbility to work with diverse patient populationsMust demonstrate empathy, calm demeanor, and comfort supporting the terminally illHospice-specific training requirement:Minimum 75 hours classroom & supervised practical training16 hours classroom + 16 hours mandatory practical training minimumEducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredBehavioral & Clinical CompetenciesCandidates must demonstrate:Initiative, accountability, and strong work ethicSensitivity to patient and family needsUnderstanding of patient safety principlesAbility to build and maintain respectful professional relationshipsPhysical Requirements(Per role expectations)Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 25 lbsOccasional lifting/pulling up to 50 lbsRepetitive hand use, visual and hearing acuityNotes:Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM VIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
