Job Description

Description

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will: Assist Veterans'/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and other ADLs Follow instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibility Assist nursing staff with simple medical procedures such as suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care and post-mortem care Assist in monitoring physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by utilizing appropriate medical equipment and techniques to take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations); obtain urine, sputum or stool samples; and track input/output Responsible for medical record and worksheet documentation on all assigned Veterans/Members Keep records and prepares simple reports Assist Veterans/Members with dining to include transporting to the dining room, informing them about menu choices available for the day, communicating dining staff about Veterans'/Members' choices and serves Veterans/Members their meals in courses, assisting them if necessary Provide resident care and comfort by responding to patient requests (verbal or call light) for assistance timely in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights Maintain cleanliness of areas neat and sanitary by changing bedding, linens and other items Report to and assist licensed nurses in emergency situations rapidly and appropriately following established policies and procedures Perform other related duties such as transporting Veterans/Members to appointments outside the facility and clerical duties (e.g., answering phones, filing, etc.) as needed

Skills Required

Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the client Current CPR card that was obtained by physical assessment

Experience Required

One or more years working in a Skilled Nursing/Long-term Care facility or similar experience.

Education Required

Current or temporary license to practice as a CNA/LNA in the State of Arizona
