Job Description


This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career.

As a Prototype Machinist/AM Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Operation of machine shop equipment including CNC/Manual milling machines, lathes, and sheet metal tools
Supporting the R&D teams and labs by creating custom fabricated parts, maintaining equipment, and managing a workload in an efficient manner
Manage raw material inventories, equipment and assist the engineering staff to hit critical prototyping milestones with the highest quality parts
Operating and maintaining AM equipment including 3D systems, Stratasys, Mark Forged and FormLabs printers
Operation of CMM tools like Faro Arm, Keyence Optical Microscope, Keyence Laser Comparator, etc
Maintain schedule and quality of fabricated parts
Maintaining a clean and safe shop working environment by strictly adhering to the departmental procedures
Performing high and low responsibility tasks, including general machine maintenance, occasional assembly work, and organization

Proficient use of measurement tools and able to work in both metric and standard units
Knowledge of and experience with the client CAD/ CAM tools and virtual design environments
Fluent in reading/interpreting GD&T
CNC programming preferred
Experience with Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM)
Proven adaptability and flexibility as part of a team
Leadership skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Mechanically adept and able to lift up to 35 lbs

Required skills to have for the success of this role

Minimum of 10 years shop experience or 4yrs with formal training
Strong understanding of GD&T and how to read and apply it when fabricating custom parts
Additive manufacturing (3D printing/scanning) skills are a plus
Computer literate and able to operate both NC and manual equipment
