Position Overview


Hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite per week)

Role Summary
The client is seeking a seasoned Commodity Management Professional to lead sourcing and commodity strategies for a designated area of responsibility. This individual will drive supplier strategy, lead commodity circles, manage supplier relationships, execute strategic sourcing initiatives, and identify cost-saving opportunities while supporting business growth objectives.
This is a highly visible role requiring someone who can operate strategically, influence stakeholders globally, and manage complex supplier ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Commodity Leadership
Lead Commodity Circles alongside cross-functional stakeholders
Develop and execute commodity and ecosystem strategies
Drive supplier engagement and long-term sourcing initiatives
Support award decisions aligned with commodity strategies

Supplier & Contract Management
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms
Manage strategic supplier relationships
Execute sourcing boards and procurement reviews
Maintain and strengthen supplier competitiveness

Cost Savings & Risk Mitigation
Identify and implement savings initiatives
Analyze spend and cost structures
Assess supplier and supply chain risks
Develop mitigation plans and alternative sourcing strategies

Procurement Excellence
Drive supplier qualification, selection, evaluation, and development
Promote early supplier involvement in product and project initiatives
Monitor KPIs and procurement performance metrics
Support global procurement process improvements

Must-Have Requirements

Education
Bachelor's degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Supply Chain Management
Business
Related technical discipline

Experience
6 to 12+ years in:
Commodity Management
Strategic Sourcing
Procurement
Supply Chain
Purchasing
Engineering within manufacturing or machinery industries

Technical Skills
SAP experience
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Financial analysis and data-driven decision making
Cost modeling and spend analysis

Procurement Expertise
Commodity strategy development
Contract negotiations
Long-term supplier agreements
Supplier relationship management
Risk management
Cost reduction initiatives

Preferred Qualifications
Power Generation Industry experience
Data Analytics or Data Science capabilities
Experience supporting global supply chains
Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes

Has led commodity strategies rather than simply executing purchase orders
Has significant experience negotiating supplier contracts and pricing agreements
Understands manufacturing and mechanical component supply chains
Can influence stakeholders in a global matrixed organization
Has experience with spend analysis, supplier risk, and cost reduction initiatives
Is comfortable presenting sourcing recommendations to leadership teams
