Description:

Construction Project Specialist (CPS)

Ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality requirements, including DOE directives, OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 and 1926), the client ’s ESH Manual, and other relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC, NFPA, ASME).
Obtain required ESH permits and maintain site access requirements in coordination with Argonne’s Technical Representative, Construction Manager, and Occupational Safety Specialist.
Monitor daily field construction activities for adherence to approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and job safety requirements.
Conduct site inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions. Pause work when hazards or deficiencies are observed.
Verify that all field work is performed in accordance with approved Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Daily Safe Work Plans (DSWPs), and the Project-Specific Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
Ensure the availability of hazard controls and personal protective equipment prior to commencing work.
Participate in and verify the performance of daily pre-work planning and toolbox meetings.
Confirm that all contractor and subcontractor personnel are trained, qualified, and compliant with applicable safety requirements.
Communicate jobsite hazards, expectations, and mitigation measures to all workers. Coordinate with General Contractors on implementation of specific controls.
Maintain a consistent jobsite presence or ensure a trained and qualified alternate is present during all work activities.
Support root cause investigations and corrective action development for incidents and near misses.
Coordinate with engineering, project management, and construction personnel to align field execution with safety and quality goals.
Apply technical knowledge of construction practices, materials, and systems to evaluate field performance and suggest improvements.
Support implementation of policies and procedures to reduce risks, improve methods, and ensure consistent quality.
Utilize field tools, checklists, and software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) to support QA documentation and field reporting.
Assist with maintaining configuration control over construction-related documents and records.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills across all levels of the project team.
Stay current with evolving safety regulations, construction codes, and best practices through training and continuous engagement.
