Job Description

Hybrid - 95% remote, 5% in-office for potential meetings

Description:

The client is seeking a Data Governance Specialist to help formalize and operationalize the client’s enterprise Data Governance Program. This role will support the Data Governance Committee and help translate citywide data policies into practical standards, documentation, and processes. You’ll work closely with data stewards, IT, and analytics teams to strengthen governance around data classification, documentation, and Power BI workspace management — ensuring that client data is well-documented, secure, and responsibly shared.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and document data governance standards, including data classification and data intake processes.
Draft the Data Governance Committee Charter and assist in building related procedures and templates.
Create governance workflows for Power BI (workspace setup, ownership, naming, sharing, and publishing).
Coordinate committee activities and prepare meeting materials, summaries, and action logs.
Maintain governance documentation, templates, and reference materials in shared repositories.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Public Administration, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or business systems analysis.
Familiarity with Power BI administration, data classification, and metadata documentation.
Strong communication and writing skills; able to create clear, usable governance documentation.
Experience in local government or complex public-sector environments preferred.
