Senior eCommerce Merchandiser
The client is looking for a Senior eCommerce Merchandiser to own the digital merchandising strategy and execution across the OSI eCommerce experience.
This role is responsible for turning customer traffic into commercial results by improving product discovery, assortment presentation, site merchandising, conversion, and the overall shopping experience.
The ideal candidate combines strong merchant instincts with analytical thinking and hands-on execution. They understand how customers shop online, know how to use data to identify opportunities, and can translate those insights into merchandising actions that improve business performance.
This is not simply a site operations role. The Senior eCommerce Merchandiser will help determine what customers see, how they discover products, how products are presented, and how the digital experience supports business priorities.
What You'll Do
Own eCommerce Merchandising
Develop and execute the onsite merchandising strategy across categories, collections, PLPs, PDPs, search, navigation, and promotional experiences.
Determine product prioritization, sequencing, placement, and presentation based on business priorities, inventory, customer behavior, and performance.
Identify opportunities to improve product visibility, discovery, conversion, AOV, and overall category performance.
Develop merchandising strategies for seasonal moments, campaigns, new product introductions, and key business initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement across sorting, badging, bundling, recommendations, personalization, and promotional merchandising.
Go-to-Market & Cross-Functional Leadership
Co-develop the digital content and merchandising calendar, aligning product launches, inventory position, and brand marketing plans.
Establish launch-readiness expectations and proactively identify and escalate merchandising, operational, content, creative, and technical dependencies.
Partner cross-functionally to ensure campaigns, launches, categories, and promotions deliver an integrated customer and commercial experience across the digital storefront.
Translate product and business priorities into clear onsite merchandising requirements and execution plans.
Optimize the Customer Experience
Evaluate the customer journey from discovery through conversion and identify opportunities to reduce friction and improve product discovery.
Optimize PLPs, PDPs, navigation, search, filters, recommendations, and merchandising modules based on customer behavior and performance data.
Identify opportunities for testing and optimization and translate learnings into ongoing merchandising improvements.
Partner with UX, eCommerce, Technology, Creative, and Analytics teams to improve the digital shopping experience.
Use Data to Drive Decisions
Analyze conversion, revenue, AOV, product, category, search, and customer behavior performance.
Identify trends, opportunities, and underperforming areas within the assortment and customer journey.
Develop data-driven recommendations and measure the impact of merchandising changes.
Establish performance baselines and reporting in partnership with Analytics.
Support testing and optimization initiatives and translate results into future actions.
Lead Product & Category Merchandising
Develop a strong understanding of the OSI assortment, customer, and product portfolio.
Identify hero products, emerging opportunities, underexposed products, and assortment gaps.
Create compelling product and category experiences that help customers understand and navigate the assortment.
Lead merchandising strategy and execution for new product launches, from launch planning through post-launch evaluation.
Partner with Product, Marketing, Creative, Inventory, and other stakeholders to ensure product priorities are reflected appropriately onsite.
Execute Hands-On
Build, maintain, and QA merchandising experiences within the eCommerce platform and related systems.
Execute merchandising updates, campaigns, launches, and onsite experiences accurately and on schedule.
Identify and resolve onsite merchandising issues and ensure a high standard of digital execution.
Manage merchandising calendars and maintain strong attention to detail across product content, placement, categorization, navigation, and customer-facing experiences.
Work independently and proactively identify opportunities without requiring day-to-day direction.
Required
Experience in a DTC, retail, consumer products, apparel, footwear, sporting goods, outdoor, eyewear, or similar environment.
Strong understanding of eCommerce merchandising and the digital customer journey.
Hands-on experience with PLP, PDP, navigation, search, categorization, product discovery, and onsite merchandising.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect customer and site performance data to commercial actions.
Experience using metrics such as conversion rate, AOV, revenue, product performance, category performance, and engagement to make merchandising decisions.
Experience supporting new product launches, seasonal campaigns, and promotional initiatives.
Strong understanding of conversion optimization and testing principles.
Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage dependencies across eCommerce, Marketing, Creative, Product, Inventory, UX, Technology, and Analytics.
Strong project management, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
Experience with enterprise eCommerce platform.
Experience with analytics and reporting tools such as GA4, Adobe Analytics, or Power BI preferred.
Experience working with complex, cross-functional digital initiatives across Product, Marketing, Creative, Inventory/Planning, Analytics, and Technology.
Experience with onsite search and search merchandising platforms.
Experience with A/B testing or CRO platforms.
Experience with behavioral analytics tools such as ContentSquare, Quantum Metric, or other.
Experience with CMS, PIM, or product content platforms.
Understanding of SEO and its relationship to product discovery.
Experience working with premium, performance, technical, or lifestyle products.
