Job DescriptionJob Summary: The candidate will work for the Controls Engineering Department at the client Logistics business unit.The client Logistics designs, installs, tests and commissions baggage handling systems (BHS) for domestic airports. The BHS is critical to air travel safety and airport/airline profitability. Each BHS is a customized solution optimized for the location, purpose and bag traffic. The solution must have safety, value, dependability, maintainability, efficiency and sustainability.Position OverviewWe currently have an opening for a controls drafter. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic background and be able to apply the knowledge learned in engineering schools to solve problems and suggest innovative solutions. The successful candidates will collaborate with experienced engineers as a part of project team and learn the intricacies of Automated Baggage and Material Handling Systems.Major Responsibilities: ResponsibilitiesWorking in a Matrix organization and reporting to the Engineering Manager and under the direction of the Controls Engineering Leads, the candidate will have to take part in design and development, of automated Baggage and Material Handling systems. Aids in the design of systems that integrate electrical hardware and software. Assists in schematic preparation and proper follow-up. Provides assistance in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfactionTypical activities include:Electrical Schematics & Panel Design (Controls Panel Design, Power Distribution Panel Design, Control Architecture, Network drawings, Components Layout) using AutoCad or AutoCad ElectricalEducation/Experience/Licenses etc.: Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and ExperienceThe position minimum requirements are:Associate Degree in Electrical / Controls / Automation / Robotics / Instrumentation Engineering/CAD Technology or drafting2 years’ experience using AutoCad or AutoCad ElectricalFluent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access) and Windows operating systemsStrong command of English Language both written and verbal is a mustPreferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and ExperienceThe following are preferred capabilities:Five years’ experience designing industrial machinery or systems.High level of AutoCad skills,Experience with conveyor systems distributed controls design.Understanding of Electrical code including but not limited to NFPA70 (NEC), NFPA79 and UL508AFamiliar with PLC hardware such as Allen Bradley and the client .Electrical control components selection for panel designAttention to detailsHigh performerNote :1st shift2 Years’ experience with industrial panel design (UL508A)VIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
