Job Description
As an Electrical & Controls Assembly Technician, you begin the day with a project briefing to review goals, priorities, and safety protocols related to gas turbines and compressor package assembly. Your workday includes interpreting electrical drawings, preparing materials, verifying component quality, and assembling and wiring electrical systems. You’ll work hands-on with both electrical and mechanical components, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with production standards.
Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings (English and metric).
Assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment, including control panels, conduit systems, cable trays, and wire terminations.
Perform electrical work on rotating equipment packages, including gas turbines and compressors.
Identify, understand, and work with components such as:
Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
Fire & Gas systems
Generator control systems
Vibration monitoring instrumentation
Apply and follow National Electrical Code (NEC), International Electrical Code (IEC), and associated standards for hazardous and intrinsically safe areas.
Operate and maintain hand tools, air powered tools, torque wrenches, measuring devices, and shop machinery necessary for electrical assembly.
Document and chart test results according to production standards and turbine engine assembly procedures.
Communicate effectively with Engineers, Quality Control, Parts Department, and management to support smooth workflow.
Maintain accurate production files, records, and quality documentation.
Keep work areas clean and organized while adhering to all safety policies, work instructions, and company procedures.
Work independently or as part of a team depending on project needs.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Read and interpret electrical drawings. Documents and charts test results as required. Operate and use hand tools and shop machines required for production. Understand production wiring techniques and assembly of turbine engines. Understand and recognize electrical parts, components, and their operations. Assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot electrical and related equipment. Run conduit and perform wire terminations according to drawings. Work with National Electrical Code. Work with hazardous areas and intrinsically safe areas in conjunction with turbines and associated equipment. Operate and understand Motor Control Centers, Fire and Gas systems, Generator Control and Vibration.
High School Diploma or GED OR 10+ years of relevant industrial electrician experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical assembly, wiring of control panels, or rotating equipment manufacturing.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
Ability to identify and work with electrical components (breakers, disconnects, starters, relays, overloads, timers, etc.).
Proficiency with wire sizes from 18 AWG up to 1/0 AWG.
Skilled in the use of hand tools (screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimpers, cutters), air driven tools, and torque wrenches.
Ability to lift to 45 lbs. on a consistent basis.
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
