Job Description

Position Summary:
The Facilities Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and well-organized production environment that supports our commitment to quality, compliance, and operational excellence. This role ensures that plant areas—including production floors, offices, restrooms, and common spaces—are maintained to client standards while helping create an environment where employees can work safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
Facility Cleanliness & Sanitation:
Maintain cleanliness across production and non-production areas, including restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, and offices.
Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and sanitize floors and work areas using approved cleaning methods and client –approved chemicals.
Empty and replace trash and recycling containers to support plant sustainability practices.
Clean windows, walls, doors, handrails, and high-touch surfaces to promote a healthy and efficient workspace.

Production Area Support:
Perform routine and scheduled cleaning in manufacturing zones without interrupting operational workflows.
Support response to spills and debris within production and warehouse areas, following all safety protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized environment around equipment, production lines, and material storage areas.
Report safety hazards, facility damage, or equipment issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance:
Follow all client safety requirements, including PPE usage, chemical handling procedures, and safe equipment operation.
Support 5S initiatives across the production site (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
Adhere to plant GMP, ISO, OSHA, and internal quality standards that safeguard our people, products, and processes.
Participate in safety walks, quality audits, and team huddles when needed.

Inventory & Equipment Care:
Maintain janitorial supply inventory; restock materials as required and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishment.
Properly operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as auto-floor scrubbers, vacuums, and polishers.
Ensure tools, carts, and supplies are stored cleanly and safely at the end of each shift.

Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory).
Prior experience in janitorial, custodial, or facilities maintenance roles.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and move frequently, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Understanding of basic cleaning techniques and chemical safety protocols.
Ability to work independently, follow standardized processes, and prioritize tasks.

Preferred:
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Familiarity with 5S or continuous improvement principles.
Previous experience operating industrial cleaning equipment.

Work Environment:
Exposure to active production areas, equipment noise, and industrial cleaning materials.
Required use of PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses).
