Position Overview



Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Property Inventory Manager, the Facilities Surplus Worker assists with the systematic removal, relocation, disposal, and surplus preparation of furniture, equipment, supplies, and other property from client buildings.
This position supports client facility transition projects by clearing buildings in accordance with property management procedures and state surplus requirements while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
The Facilities Surplus Worker receives daily work assignments and direction from the Property Inventory Manager and works independently or as part of a team to complete assigned building clear-out activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Remove furniture, equipment, supplies, and miscellaneous materials from assigned buildings.
Follow directions from the Property Inventory Manager regarding the disposition of property, including Disposal of non-salvageable materials.
Relocation of property designated for future use.
Preparation and transportation of surplus property for State Surplus auction.
Load, unload, transport, and stage materials using appropriate equipment and safe lifting techniques.
Assist with organizing, labeling, and staging surplus items in designated storage or warehouse locations.
Ensure property is handled carefully to prevent unnecessary damage during relocation.
Perform basic disassembly of furniture, shelving, or equipment when necessary to facilitate removal or transport.
Remove remaining debris and perform final cleaning of interior building spaces after all materials have been removed.
Prepare each building for turnover by ensuring it is clean, empty, and free of discarded materials.
Maintain safe work practices and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Report damaged property, safety hazards, or unusual conditions to the Property Inventory Manager.
Operate hand tools, dollies, pallet jacks, carts, and other equipment necessary to complete assigned duties.
Assist with other facilities support duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Valid AZ driver's license preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of safe material handling practices.
Ability to safely move furniture, equipment, and materials.
Ability to organize work efficiently and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Ability to distinguish between property designated for disposal, relocation, or State Surplus.
Ability to maintain professionalism while working in occupied and unoccupied facilities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Required Skills
Ability to safely perform strenuous physical labor throughout the workday.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment when necessary.

Working Conditions
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Work is performed in offices, classrooms, warehouses, storage areas, and other client facilities. Employees may be exposed to dust, heat, cold, and varying environmental conditions during building clean-out and surplus operations.

Supervision
This position reports directly to the Property Inventory Manager. Daily assignments, priorities, and work direction are provided by the Property Inventory Manager.
