Field Technician 3

Looking for a hard and motivated worker looking to learn fiber optic splicing and Fiber Characterization testing.
Someone who has basic computer skills and can operate and navigate in word and excel.
This individual can have some fiber experience and wanting to expand that knowledge.
We will be working in active Datacenters across North and South America; this is a 95% travel position.

Summary:

The main function of a fiber test engineer is to perform end-to-end testing of fiber optic cables and cable paths to ensure proper connectivity.
A typical fiber test engineer is responsible for the prepping, testing, splicing, and troubleshooting of fiber cables and fiber cable pathways.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform testing to gauge cable connectivity, fiber characterization, and overall fiber network performance
Partake in the splicing and maintenance of fiber strands
Perform field analysis on fiber cables and networks to identify points of failure
Maintain project documentation to ensure schedules and deadlines are followed
Maintain records and prepare required reports relevant to fiber cable, strand, and network testing

Qualifications:

Experience in the field
3-5 years experience required
Experience in fiber optic cable design and implementation projects
Strong understanding of both fiber and telecommunications networks
Strong understanding of fiber types and fiber splicing methodology
Excellent communications and customer service skills

Must Have

IAD experience (sterling VA, Baltimore area)
Experience Fiber Technician
3-5 years of experiences fiber Splicing.
Working with single strand fiber and Ribbon Fiber.
Experience tester. Read, analyze, understand test results.
Communicate results to vendors.

Note :

Location: Travel/Remote
Contractor traveling up to 95% of time
Education: High School or Equivalent
Experience: 3-5 years or more
