As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for end-to-end fiber characterization in support of network fiber services (metro dark fiber, long haul networks, etc.) in accordance with planned deployment timeframes contractually negotiated by the customer. The essential function of the role is to act as the service provider to the client customer and will be expected to meet all customer expectations regarding technical skills, performance, and policy compliance.You will be managing the day-to-day fiber testing - handling demanding situations, keeping projects on track, ensuring that vendors meet standards and delivery times, resolving issues, working with internal staff and stakeholders, helping teams/vendors buy into and work towards common goals and deadlines.You will work closely with other team members to understand delivery targets of new and existing fiber routes and technical requirements. As a field technician you will also work closely with internal project management teams to communicate target completion dates and ensure that all internal requirements are being met in a timely manner.You Will Make an Impact ByPerform testing to gauge cable connectivity, fiber characterization, and overall fiber network performance.Perform field analysis of test results on fiber cables and networks to identify points of failure.Knowledge of fiber characterization, fiber types, physical interfaces, connector types.Maintain project documentation to ensure schedules and deadlines are followed.Ensure site delivery with adherence to proper grounding and power standards, rack layout, conveyance routing and placement, cooling systems, diversity of POE access/routing.Maintain records and prepare required reports relevant to fiber cable, strand and network testing.Required Qualifications for ConsiderationAssociate degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, network engineering or related field experience.Experience working with ISP and OSP physical fiber infrastructureStrong knowledge testing fiber with OTDR, understanding and interpreting OTDR test results.Experience in fiber optic cable design and implementation projects.Strong understanding of both fiber and telecommunications projects.Strong understanding of fiber types and fiber splicing methodology.Excellent communications and customer service skills.You Will Excite Us If YouExperienced in the delivery of telecommunications infrastructure and space and power from third-party suppliers.Knowledge of Dark Fiber Delivery.Knowledge of fusion splicing and all aspects of fusion splicing.Deep understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels including physical interfaces, cable types, connector types and riser details.Excellent organizational, project-management and communication skillsNotes:This role will be remote, with travel to a customer facility location.
