Job Description
GPU System / Firmware Test Validation Engineer
These are the must have skills we’re looking for:
Focus on automation, create, execute, and maintain detailed test procedures and test scripts for cutting-edge firmware, using Python as scripting language
Software/firmware test case development, continuous integration, automation, and execution targeting Linux and Windows environments
Debugging issues found during the process, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs
Working with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time
THE ROLE:
Client’s Firmware QA Test Development team is looking for an experienced Firmware Test Engineer to design, architect and develop test plans for pre-silicon integrated firmware solutions for components in the client Server SOC and GPU. The engineer will be responsible for new firmware test plan deliverables. This includes reviewing firmware requirements from product spec, collaborating with feature validation teams, lead system engineers and other stake holders to explore and develop system level test plan, working with simulation teams to create requirements for simulation support and finally working with test engineering team on creating list of test cases to test the features out. Being successful in developing wholistic test plans will need resolving technical challenges and aligning efforts across engineering teams and business units within the client.
THE PERSON:
The successful candidate will employ pre/post-silicon test design methodologies, work to develop a deep technical knowledge, and understanding of system BIOS/FW across multiple FW components.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
With a focus on automation, create, execute, and maintain detailed test procedures and test scripts for cutting-edge BIOS firmware, using Python as scripting language
Using Jenkins automated test environment, various internal hardware test tools, internal software utilities or third-party utilities, capture, and report failures to the firmware development team
Make sure the tasks are complete with adherence to customers and internal timelines
Driving technical innovation to improve client’s capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives
Work with industry standard tools for debugging software and hardware issues
Working closely with supporting technical teams
Engaging in other software/hardware modeling frameworks
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Python automation, test development and test execution
Test plan, development, execution; good to have test automation knowledge using python
Strong problem-solving skills.
Experience in hardware/software interfaces
Software Programming and scripting experience (Python, bash, C/C++) in Windows and Linux operating systems
Basic networking skills
Comfortable working on different operating system environments including Windows and Linux
Knowledge of computer hardware (CPU/APU, graphic cards (GPU), memory, bus logic, and display technologies) and software architecture (driver/bios)
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering required, 5+ years BIOS/Firmware Test Plan Development experience
