Job Description


Responsibilities:
Repair, rebuild domestic, commercial, industrial diaphragm gas meters.
Shop repair, rebuild rotary and turbo type gas meters, including the removal and replacement of impellers, gears, bearings, bushings, gear reduction boxes, contact devices and indexes.
Adjust, prove or transfer prove and make four-point hand-slip or spin tests on diaphragm, rotary and turbo type meters.
Grind valve covers and valve seats; inspect, replace, rebuild all worn parts.
Check valve travel to determine if it is properly equalized and whether valve arms are in good condition.
Install, inspect, rebuild or replace diaphragm type temperature compensating elements.
Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs necessary to keep gas meter test and repair equipment in good operating condition.
Check inventories and recommend reordering.
Maintain standard test conditions for temperature, humidity and cleanliness.
Take reasonable care of Company tools and equipment that are assigned to the candidate.
Keep assigned equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
Direct and instruct employees assigned to work with the candidate.
Assist in the training of other employees.
Perform similar or less skilled work in this classification or, when the diversity of work load requires, perform similar or less skilled work in equal or lower classifications.
Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.
Complete any reports and forms used in connection with the performance of duties.

Qualifications:
Two & one-half (2 1/2) years prior experience as Gas Meterman or the equivalent.
Have a thorough working knowledge of the operation and construction of gas meters.

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Mon - Fri
Training will be March 9-13 and official start date will be 4/1.
