Job Description


Position • This position requires an individual to coach, teach, mentor, and provide direct support to members who have Developmental Disabilities (i.e., autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, or epilepsy) ranging from mild to profound.
• The majority of services are designed to meet the personal needs of members in Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) and group home settings.

This position performs a variety of activities:
• Provide activities and programming that encourage development of new skills and maintain present skills.
• Works with members to teach or assist them in activities of daily living skills (bathing, toileting, dressing, mealtime/eating, attending day/work programs, etc.).
• Performs some housekeeping duties (e.g., dusting, clothes washing, dishes, mopping, disinfecting therapy equipment and wheelchairs).
• Prepares, cooks, sets up, and serves meals, as needed.
• Supports mealtime techniques and service in accordance with specialized diets.
• Implements the member's Individual support plans for the members.
• Provides basic health care (e.g., medication administration).
• Encourages and involves members in recreational activities at home and in the community.
• Requires lifting/carrying at least 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling at least 50 lbs.

• Participating in and implementing Individual Support Plans
• Read and write in English Understand and follow spoken and written directions
• Display compassion with respect to others Attend staff training and apply the basic principles of program training and data collection designed to meet the specific needs of members including medication administration
• Learn and use computer systems (e.g., timesheet entry, computer-based training)
• Learn and apply basic physical, occupational, and speech therapy techniques
• Learn and perform proper lifting techniques and general body mechanics Learn and use nutritional principles and special mealtime techniques
• Learn and apply behavior support techniques

Experience Required:
• At least 1 year of direct care

Education Required:
• H.S Diploma

Note:
Onsite
7:00 PM-6:00 AM
Flexibility in schedule (i.e., work different shift, overtime, and changing work locations) as these are 24-hour residential settings. Most schedules work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and change work locations, when necessary.
Resources are expected to work a minimum of one(1) weekend day each week (Saturday or Sunday). A resource can work both Saturday and Sunday as a set schedule.
