DescriptionThe Hardware Systems Engineer is responsible for the integration of Sentera sensors and hardware onto UAS (unmanned aerial systems) platforms. This position requires experience in systems engineering practices, mechanical design, UAS instrumentation, hardware testing/validation, as well as exceptional organization, attention to detail, and dedication to user success. The individual will support integration schedule planning and execution, mechanical design, and hardware product validation & testing. Responsibilities also include flight testing, creating internal and external facing product documentation, and level 2 engineering support.ResponsibilitiesMechanical design of components related to Sentera sensors and hardware.Planning and execution of Sentera sensor and hardware integrations for new UAS platforms.Maintenance of existing Sentera sensor integrations.Planning and execution of Sentera hardware integrations for UAS platforms.UAS flight testing.Wire harness design, fabrication, and documentation.Internal engineering and production documentation creation & maintenance.User facing documentation creation & maintenance.Level 2 engineering support.Hardware and software compatibility testing of Sentera sensors, UAS platforms, and 3rd party post processing software.Creation and maintenance of engineering drawings and bill of materials.RequirementsBS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.Proficient in CAD (minimum of 1 year experience, PTC Creo preferred)FAA Part 107 certification acquired withing three months of employmentExperience with UAS (drones) platforms (preferred)Experience with Pixhawk autopilots (PX4 & Ardupilot)Experience with MAVlink (preferred)Strong mechanical aptitudeAbility to interpret requirements independentlyComputer literate in Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detailHighly motivatedAbility to work constructively within a teamExceptional communication skillsAdditional DetailsChange management facilitation regarding documentation between engineering staff and production staff.Will become a point of contact between Sentera engineering teams and technology partner engineering teams.Will help create product improvement and sustainment criteriaWill be a subject matter expert on Sentera sensors and hardware, their functions, and their applications.NotesWould like to see candidates who are familiar with Pixhawk autopilot hardware, PX4 & Ardupilot flight stack firmware, and other MAVlink based systems. Must be willing and interested to learn about these systems. Needs to be able to learn how Sentera products work and how to make them compatible with UAS platforms.Notes:Work Environment:Approximately 25% of the day spent on feet.Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.Travel:May be required to travel using a personal vehicle (as much as weekly based on season)May be required to travel as necessary for flight testing and validationWork Hours: 1st shift position – 8 am to 4:30 pm – Minimal overtime
