Description:Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Importation Assistant to support our international trade operations, with a strong focus on researching and verifying tariffs and import duties for goods entering the United States. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and provide real time information to support customer communication in terms of cost and other potential impactsKey Responsibilities:Research and verify applicable tariffs, duties, and taxes on imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and other relevant trade databases.Track changes in international trade agreements and tariff schedules that may affect import operations.Assist in collecting accurate import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading to evaluate business impactMaintain an organized database of tariff classifications and past shipment records.Communicate with international suppliers to check tariffs and derivatives.Align with Project Managers communication to customers in terms of impactsRequirements:High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or coursework in international trade, logistics, or a related field preferred.5-7 years of experience in importation, logistics, or trade complianceBasic knowledge of international trade and customs regulations.Familiarity with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and trade compliance databases.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software.Good written and verbal communication skills.Experience working with customs brokers or international suppliers.Familiarity with U.S. import regulations and free trade agreements.Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems (SAP4Hana)Main accountabilities:Evaluate backlog, check HTS code, identify origin country and tariffs to be paidControl tariffs forecast by project and supplierIdentify potential risks and potential actions to mitigate/reduce tariffs amountTrack expected deliveries through customs and payment of tariffs .Track and calculating difference between original base contract expected tariff/custom duty amounts vs. actual amount paid due to post contract execution tariff/custom duty increases (and decreases).Maintain library of all documentation supporting the differences to be used for customer communicationCollaborate and w/ Project Teams, SCM and Contract management for submission of claims.Notes:Hybrid: 3 days at the office and 2 Remote.8-5pmVIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
