Painter/Helper, Industrial Shop

Job Summary

A dedicated and detail-oriented Painter/Helper is needed to join the industrial shop team. This role involves paint preparation, painting, and basic maintenance tasks to ensure product quality and longevity. The Painter/Helper will work closely with experienced Maintenance team members, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Surface Preparation:
o Clean and prepare surfaces for painting, which may include sanding, grinding, removing old coatings, and applying primers or sealers.
o Inspect surfaces for imperfections, addressing rust, grease, dirt, or other contaminants as necessary.
o Mask and protect surfaces that are not to be painted.
Painting:
o Applying paint, varnish, and other coatings using various tools like brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
o Mix and prepare paint according to specifications, ensuring proper color matching and consistency.
Basic Maintenance:
o Perform routine maintenance on painting tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
o Clean and maintain the painting area and tools, adhering to safety and housekeeping standards.
Teamwork and Communication:
o Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
o Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other personnel.
o Actively participate in training sessions and learn from experienced professionals to enhance painting skills and knowledge.
Safety and Compliance:
o Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, goggles, gloves, and protective clothing.
o Handle paint materials and equipment safely, following established procedures for storage and disposal.
o Be aware of potential hazards and report any safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience as a Painter Helper or in a related field is preferred.
Basic knowledge of paint types, tools, and techniques.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new methods and processes.
Physical ability to lift and carry equipment and materials.
Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to industrial painting.
