Job Summary:The Elections Division is looking for students who want to learn about election administration and support the initiative review process leading up to the 2026 election.As a summer intern with the Elections Division, interns will observe how state government functions and attend trainings related to electionadministration. Interns will learn how to research state statutes and the requirements of client’s initiative process. Interns will contribute to theteam by reviewing initiative petition sheets and complying with statutory requirements.Students or recent graduates interested in public service and witnessing democracy in action are encouraged to apply.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of basic office professionalismBasic knowledge of policy, government, public administration, or lawSkill in active listeningSkill in critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to approach problemsSkill in working effectively with a teamSkill in basic computer navigationAbility to be extremely detail-orientedAbility to adapt to changes in processes or responsibilitiesAbility to initiate and follow-through with tasksAbility to remain objective and nonpartisan while serving as an intern under the Secretary of StateAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand for long periods of timeSelective Preference(s):Coursework in public policy, public administration, government or law is preferredDemonstrated interest in public serviceNotes:8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
