Description :

The Installation Supervisor organizes, and coordinates client activities related to installation work and test of the equipment on site, within the field of responsibility related to installation. The Installation Supervisor is a project site-based role, and they report directly to the Global Manager of HVDC Installation. They are involved on all aspects of the installation scope including HSE, quality control, programme, and execution. Reporting to the Installation Manager at the site level, the Installation Supervisor will typically act as the Installation Managers second. Processes for these responsibilities can be found within the Adonis online system. The responsibility to complete these tasks falls onto the Installation Manager, however it will be the role of the Installation Supervisor to assist in the completion of these tasks, in a more visible presence on site. This document provides the minimum expected from an Installation Supervisor working on a client site, however the below list is non exhaustive. When this description states “ensures”, the responsibility sits with another function, but the Installation Supervisor should check that this work is being done.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Reports and gives assistance to the following based on the installation scope:

Site Manager– Any communication with the Site Manager is done via the Installation Manager following to correct lines of communication. In the absence of the Installation Manager, the Installation Supervisor will provide planning information and coordination over all activities. Ensures that the Site Manager is given all the necessary information to report back within the project.
Installation Manager – At site level, an Installation Supervisor reports directly to the Installation Manager and receives their daily tasks from the Installation Manager.
Civil Construction Representative – Co-ordinates the installation work with the civil team.
HSE Team – Aids the HSE team with all matters relating to the installation scope. This can include the control of work areas, review of RAMS documentation and general co-ordination.
Quality Team – Raises quality concerns and provides information relating to all installation scope QITs.
Commissioning Team Co-ordinates the installation work with the commissioning scope whenever there is an overlap. Takes a key role in assessing work areas for electrical safety when there is an overlap between installation and commissioning scopes.
Document Control – Ensures that the installation contractor is using the correct “issued for construction” drawings and that they are the correct revision.
Logistics Coordinator– Works closely with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure that all equipment is available in the work area on time and stored as per the correct requirements.
Rest of the Site Installation Team – This could include another Installation Supervisor, Installation Manager,Cable Supervisor, Valve Supervisor, Transformer Supervisor, however this list is not exhaustive. The Installation Supervisor should work as a team within this function and support each other’s roles. For example,covering where needing and sharing any observations that may assist other members of the team.
Installation Contractor – Co-ordinates all the installation work with the installation contractor and ensures that they have all the necessary information required to complete this scope of work.

Other Responsibilities:

-They will ensure that the works are completed in a safe manner and are all in compliance with the relevant safety and environmental plans on site.
-Ensure the works are regularly coordinated with all other parties on site.
-Takes part and assist the HSE department in the review and implementation of the RAMS.
-Continually review the RAMS in line with the status of the works and ensures the works are completed in compliance with the RAMS.
-Ensure all plant and equipment used for the installation scope is in good working order, operated by experienced personnel and supplied with valid certification.
-Ensure that personnel on site are wearing the correct PPE and it is in good condition.
-Ensure that a pre-work brief is completed before the start of each task which includes the briefing of the RAMS to the working party, point of work risk assessment and any other relevant documentation.
-Report hazards, near misses, safety observations, good practices to the onsite HSE team.
-Assist the HSE team in any incident investigations should the need arise.
-Ensure that good housekeeping practices are maintained in all installation work areas.Ensure that all waste management is followed, and correct waste streams are used
-Makes sure that all changes are identified and communicated to the relevant parties.
-Assures that client commitments to the customer are met in accordance with the contract and any country specific requirements.
-Assists in technical discussions with the customer and the customers consultants.
-Attends weekly progress meetings with the contractor.
-Quality checks during the installation including ITR inspections and checking compliance with the ITP.
-Ensuring the contractor completes its works using safe work practices.
-Ensuring that the contractor completes its works in accordance with the contract programme.
-Guides the installation contractor throughout the installation and gives assistance wherever required.
-Ensures the installation is built correctly in accordance with the latest issued construction drawings.
-Ensures that all works and testing is done using in date calibrated tools and equipment.
-Offers technical assistance on correct installation methods and queries.
-Keeps the documentations in order and ensures that the latest revision is used for the installation works.
-Continuously updates working documents and ensures that the “Site Master” are updated with Red Marks throughout the installation period. Red marks can be either hard copies within the site master binders, or electronically handled within BIM360 or other digital tools.
-Support in engineering DRMs, to review and provide feedback from a site point of view making sure the erection perspective and safe method of working is considered in the design.
-Uses the QIT online application for reporting all deviations and improvements and follows these up.
-Ensures that the Site Quality Plan is followed.
-Joins the Installation Manager and customer for regular quality walks around the completed installation.
-Assists when it comes to ITR inspections with the installation contractor and customer. The completion of the ITRs is the responsibility of the installation contractor, however the Installation Supervisor should assist to ensure that the ITR inspections are being done correctly.
-Ensures that the equipment is stored correctly, and any preservation requirements are completed.

When applicated, assists on any mechanical completion inspections with the customer.

-Assists the Installation Manager when it comes to any area handover inspections.
-At the end of the project, assists with the collation and documentation of all the lessons learnt information.
-Assists with the planning of site activities, including resources with the sub-contractor, milestones and follows-up the site activities, according to the plan for each area of responsibility.
-Aids the installation contractor with the correct planning of their works and when applicable, for less experienced contractors helps mentor them through the process.
-Understands the critical path scheduling.
-Aids in the production of a strategy to reduce the risks around the critical path.
-Regularly reports site progress, hindrances, state of material supply etc. to the rest of the team.
-Actively looks for optimizations in the overall project plan and implements where possible.
In case of delays, helps finds the best strategy to mitigate these delays.
-Ensures correct handling, storage & installation of equipment according to manufactures instructions.
-Assists in the receiving and inspection log inspections that are completed for all equipment deliveries. This is the responsibility of the Logistics Coordinator, however the Installation Supervisor should offer some technical assistance during these inspections, when required.


IMPORTANT:

Candidates MUST HAVE previous experience in the high voltage industry and a minimum of 7-10 of experience of site work. An Installation Supervisor should have experience in installation work of various sizes, complexities, and technologies. A must is experience working within a live HV compound and how to achieve safety from the HV system.

Below is a list of experience and knowledge required, practical as well as theoretical is a MUST.

HVDC converter / switching stations, onshore and / or offshore.
Transformers converter and / or AC.
HV cable, pulling and termination.
LV control & power cables, pulling and termination.
HV Main circuit equipment including breakers, reactors, resistors, arresters, CTs, etc.
AC GIS and / or AIS installations.
