Responsibilities:The Instructional Designer will create a positive experience for faculty/staff as they guide them through the process of redesigning a residential course for online and hybrid delivery by performing the following responsibilities:Work independently to redesign established residential courses to effective, engaging, rigorous online and hybrid courses using the client technology stack.Support faculty’s redesign work by providing advice based on pedagogical effectiveness and technological considerations.Make recommendations about which courses would most benefit from a course redesign and additional support or intervention.Interact with faculty via our ticketing system (Service Now).Create online written and video documentation and/or training materials to support course redesign and course development in Canvas.Perform QA duties to ensure that redesigned courses are pedagogically sound and employ technologies within the client ecosystem.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree instructional design or related field, or three years of experience as an instructional designer in an academic settingExperience building courses in CanvasUnderstanding of academic course design principles and methodologies, including flipped classroomLead one-on-one and small group consultations in Zoom on effective practices of online and hybrid learningFacility with learning new productivity tools and workflows and the ability to work in a number of systems (Office 365, Service Now, Panopto, Zoom, Canvas, etc.)Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to redesign coursesExperience with common e-learning creation tools and integration techniques, such as Panopto, Zoom, and HypothesisExperience with higher ed contentExperience working directly with university-level facultyUnderstanding of online course delivery using video conferencing equipment and software (e.g. Zoom) and best practicesAbility to use graphics libraries and software such as Adobe Illustrator, inDesign, Acrobat, Camtasia to create visually appealing contentFamiliarity with accessibility principles and best practices as it pertains to teaching and learning contentAbility to troubleshootAbility to analyze root causes of issuesAbility to train faculty and studentsAbility to generate creative solutions to problemsAbility to track an issue from the time it is reported to resolutionAbility to communicate with faculty, students, and the client Academic Technology Solutions team members
