Instrument Repair Technician

Position Summary:

Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of clinical and commercial products.
Operates electrical and mechanical test equipment. Responsible for performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies.
Works on assignments where judgment and initiative is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.

Primary Duties:

1. Performs all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of the client Quality System.
2. Follow written work instructions and collect all relevant data.
3. Troubleshoots electromechanical problems
4. Works with Engineering/Production to implement design and/or process improvements
5. Maintains records that comply with regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
6. Consults with customer service, instrument production, etc. as needed.
7. Responsible for maintaining parts and materials in service area.


Associates degree in technical discipline and/or related on the job training or certifications. Plus, two years of related role.

HS Diploma/Equivalent with 4 years of related experience


Ability to use specialized equipment, read instructions, maintain written records, work from established drawings. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written. Experience with soldering, multimeter usage a plus.
Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.
Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
Able to lift 50 lbs. May be required to work while wearing personal protective gear.

Intake Notes:

Need candidates with electrotechnical troubleshooting experience.
Ability to utilize hand tools
Good communicator
Work with a government regulated environment a PLUS .FDA, FAA, DOT, MILITARY experience
Job is repairing returned equipment that had some form of field failure / repair depot for lack of better description

Training will look like:

First 1-2 weeks LOTS of SOP Reading and Theory of Operations of the medical devices they will be repairing
Taking apart and building unit (size of bread box up to size of a child's car seat)
By 4th week should be able to work autonomously for the most part, there is support by trainers and senior technicians
All about aptitude/ability to learn quickly/transferable skills
Overtime available .
Shift: "Swing" 2:30p-11:30p A shift every other Friday off / flexibility with start/end times
Hours Per Day : 9.
