Description:Jr Lab TechnicianQUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:AS/BS Degree in Computer Engineering/Technology or equivalent training and 3-5 years of experience.Strong background in computer hardware, software and PC architecture that can debug boards, has moderate soldering skills and setup of Testing environments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Assemble and perform functional test on newly designed and incoming boards including but not limited to installing sockets, processor, heat sink, HDD and then perform boot test to ensure functionality.Also requires the ability to track status of tested hardware and deliver to the end user locallyCoordinate shipping and inventory logistics globally such as boards, hardware and ASICs as directed by various teams to the various global Validation Teams.Use protocol analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers and other tools to isolate and debug device and hardware problems in order to resolve first level and simple board issues.Work's with the client's Silicon Validation team to help setup various systems and infrastructure to support bring up of new and existing programs. Includes imagining HDD with the latest Windows or Linux images, collecting HW or SW to assist the various team or other lab duties as needed.Perform or coordinate the implementation of Lab equipment Maintenance on Thermal heads, Chillers Scope or Analyzer Calibration and to maintain the SCBU Margin Silicon environmentPerform or coordinate motherboard reworks and ASIC direct mount activity (in house and external) which includes collecting and provide motherboards to the External teams, creating support tickets, communicate directions and schedules to both external team and the requestor, provide status updates and then distribute complete reworks back to the requestors.Execute pass/fail testing as bandwidth allowsWorks on related projects or assignments as needed.Support ordering and Inventory control in the client Semi Custom Purchasing Request (SPR) System.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Working knowledge of all Windows operating systems with Linux experience a plusOrganization and an attention to detail is a must.Must have excellent verbal communication skills in English and must be able to be clear and concise in email and written communication also in EnglishPC hardware and software troubleshooting skills and 2nd level soldering skills.Experience and technical expertise in PC hardware devices, motherboard architecture and computer system assembly. Basic understating of motherboard GDDR or LPDDR memory subsystems functionality would be considered a plus.Needs to have a working knowledge and principles of PC architecture in order to trouble shoot hardware compatibility issues.Working knowledge/experience with the installation of Linux and Windows operating systems including drivers and flashing BIOSKnowledge and ability to locate voltage rails, signals and components through the use of schematics or other board documentationAbility to use multi-meter, oscilloscope or software in order to perform first level board debug and repairBus Signal Integrity Test experience on electronic components would be considered a plus.Working knowledge of Thermal heads, Chillers or Thermal Chambers considered a big plus.Working knowledge of Allegro, Agile, inventory control systems is considered a big plus VIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
