Position OverviewThe successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced R&D team support the activities of new product development (NPD) and current product support (CPS) related to Point-of-Care (POC) Assay Development, including lab testing for product development, verification and validation studies for regulatory submittals, support for customer complainants and field issues as well as proficiency testing (post-market surveillance).ResponsibilitiesWork closely with R&D sensor and reagent scientists in using a wide variety of laboratory methods and equipment to generate and analyze data to support the design, development, and transfer to manufacturing of new sensors.Lab-based work including making aqueous solutions and blood preparations, assembling consumable parts, and executing R&D troubleshooting and CLSI Verification protocols on clinical chemistry analyzers and prototype instruments.Participate in test method development and validation by simultaneously executing several test protocols.Identify and take appropriate steps to assist in resolving semi-complex problems. Investigate unexpected or unusual results and effectively communicate findings.Assist in laboratory support functions such as chemical inventory, laboratory inventory, data extraction, authoring/revising local procedures/work instructions and receiving of materials.Identify and drive continual laboratory improvements.Regularly interacts with Research and Development, Technical Operations, and Quality Assurance personnel.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in relevant scientific majors, such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Technology and/or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.Minimum of 1 year of industrial experience, preferably in laboratory environment.Experience working with plasma, serum, and whole blood.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team environment are essential.Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word are required. Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis.Strong lab skills including wet chemistry and mechanical aptitude commensurate with required education and work experience.Adherence to GLP, GDP and safety standards. The candidate must be willing to work in a biohazardous environment.Experienced in maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.Attentive to details and an ability to follow both the letter and intent of written procedures.Preferred QualificationsUnderstanding of CLSI guidance and data analysis format.Previous R&D industry experience (3+ years) working in the medical diagnostics field is preferred.Knowledge of basic electrochemical principles is desirable.Notes:8 AM to 5 PM
