Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Laboratory Technician to support our materials testing and analysis operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing metallurgical samples, performing physical property tests, and documenting results to support engineering and process qualification efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Sample Preparation:
Section (cut) sample parts using a manual abrasive saw.
Mount, sand, and polish specimens for metallurgical analysis.

Testing & Analysis:

Perform Archimedes density measurements.
Conduct metallurgical micrograph analysis, including grain size and microstructure evaluation.
Perform hardness testing using appropriate equipment and standards.

Documentation & Reporting:

Accurately document test results in laboratory reports.
Compile and organize data into spreadsheets or other formats as requested by engineering staff.

Qualifications:

Associate degree or technical certification in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field preferred.
1–3 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with metallographic preparation techniques and testing methods.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data entry.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Good communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment:

Laboratory and manufacturing floor settings.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
May involve standing for extended periods and handling of small tools and equipment.

metallurgical laboratory and background in materials science, which is very different. There will be no patient or customer interaction for this position.

Notes:

Work shift – 40hrs per week, 8hrs per day M-F can accommodate a start time of 6am-8am
