Administer medication and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within scope of license. (Medications may be in a variety of forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, suppository, etc. and treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, and catheter care.)Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatmentsEnsure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are availableReceive and deliver a variety of information regarding the resident's medical, social, functional, and other needsParticipate in the receiving and giving shift reportsCommunicate with residents, family, and staff as necessary to ensure the resident receives appropriate care from the interdisciplinary teamComplete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on a newly admitted residentAssist with the development of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews and care plansMaintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, observations, treatment, and summary of resident progress.Participate in our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programAttend and participate in staff meetings Knowledge of:Gerontological/Geriatric nursing theory and practiceEffects of the aging process Practices and procedures of team nursingPractices and procedures for implementing treatment plans for resident/patient carePractices and procedures of pharmacology and medicines client laws, rules and regulations governing general practical nursing practices and the security and control of medical supplies and medications and dispensing thereof Skills in:Observing and reporting behavior and progress of residents/patients Applying and interpreting client laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices.Assisting in the development and implementation of patient care plans within a team nursing conceptOral and written communication skills Interpersonal skillsAbility to:Abide by nursing regulationsListen, observe, assess and respond to medical emergenciesEvaluate, analyze, make independent decisions and follow up regarding client health problemsRespond to medical issues/inquiries in a professional mannerEstablish and maintain effective work relationshipsRequired Skills:License: Active AZ LPN License
