DescriptionMEL Maintenance TechJOB PURPOSEPerform maintenance and repair activities for electrification lab equipment and facility infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of PV and electrification test environments. This position supports both labs testing operations and building maintenance, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and system improvements.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSLab Equipment & Test SupportPerform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of lab equipment, test systems, and fixturesSupport setup, modification, and operation of test benches, dynamometers, and electrification systemsBuild, modify, and maintain test harnesses, loads, and test fixturesDiagnose equipment issues using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopesInspect and repair electrical and mechanical assembliesCalibration & Specialized ActivitiesPerform thermal chamber calibration and verificationMaintain calibration records and ensure compliance with lab standardsSupport additional validation and maintenance tasks as directed by supervisorFacility & Building MaintenancePerform building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general repairsExecute preventative maintenance on facility systemsSupport grounds maintenance, snow removal, and minor construction projectsTroubleshoot facility-related issues impacting lab operationsPreventative Maintenance & DocumentationPerform scheduled preventative maintenance on lab and facility equipmentMaintain maintenance, calibration, and work order recordsEnsure high equipment uptime and reliabilitySafety & ComplianceSupport client safety and security programsFollow electrical and lab safety requirementsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized environmentGeneral ResponsibilitiesCommunicate effectively with engineering teams, facilities, and leadershipWork independently or as part of a teamSupport on-call rotation as requiredPerform other duties as assigned by supervisorREQUIRED EDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred: Two-year technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities Maintenance, or related field.REQUIRED EXPERIENCEMinimum 3 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or technical support. Experience with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems required. Lab or test equipment experience preferred.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skillsAbility to read electrical schematics and technical documentationExperience with diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes)Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)Strong organizational and time management skillsBasic computer skills for documentation and trackingAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionValid driver’s licensePREFERRED SKILLSExperience with electrification systems (motors, inverters, batteries)Experience with calibration equipment (thermal chambers, power analyzers)Background in mechatronics, automation, or roboticsFamiliarity with preventative maintenance systemsWORK ENVIRONMENTCombination of laboratory, shop, and facility environments. Physical activity including lifting and standing required. Occasional off-shift or on-call work may be required.Notes:1st shift - 7:30 AM - 4:00. OT hours may be required.
