Description:
As a Manual Machinist, you’ll support Machine shop in running conventional (manual) lathes and or mill, holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements for the different products that optimize the extraction, production and processing of energy.
Responsibilities / Tasks of the Role:
Supporting safety culture and driving a safe to start mindset.
Operating special purpose equipment, conventional (lathe and/or mill).
Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
Selecting, aligning, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Reading and interpreting documents such as OEM drawings, REI’s, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.
Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
Essential Requirements of the role:
Have a High School Diploma or equivalent diploma
3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
Have ability to operate Manual machines.
Experience on 3 and 4 jaw chucks.
Supporting Machine shop based on customer needs
Skills & Competencies:
Demonstrate advanced / expert skill level in conventional (manual) lathes and/or mill.
Worked with exotic metals.
Able to tap and drill.
Hold tolerance .001-.003.
Able to compound angles.
GD&T
Able to chase lead threads.
Understand Machine Shop math.
Able to perform own set-ups.
Communicate complex technical information clearly to support decision-making

Education Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Industry Background or Experience:
Have ability to operate Manual machines as well as CNC machines
Expected Role Challenges:
Good physical condition
Be able to work long standing hours
Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per day, though possibly more
Frequently required to stand and/or walk, up to 2 hours per day, and make occasional trips from the office area to the manufacturing area
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including, but not limited to, safety glasses and safety shoes
Work Environment:
Fast paced and noisy environment with constant movement
Regular lifting and/or moving up to to 50 - 100lbs
Notes:
1st shift: 7am to 3:30pm
Monday – Friday (overtime as needed)
Hours per Day - 8 Hours per Week - 40
