Material Handling Operator

Position Summary:

The incumbent accurately receives, maintains, and dispenses raw, semi-finished, and finished materials. Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counting. Job includes the handling of all types of materials, including hazardous and DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) controlled materials. Daily work involves understanding and working with inventory computer systems (Documentum, SAP, MSDS etc.).

Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of semi-complex manufacturing functions in one or more of the following areas:

Weigh, measure and check raw materials to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients in proper quantities

Performs incoming, raw material and final manufacturing inspection and/or audits of quality control programs

Set up, mix, receive, store and deliver and dispense production chemicals.

Interprets documented rules, past practices, or instruction on a semi-independent level.

Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex

Troubleshoot and correct inaccurate inventories.

Frequent lifting and carrying of materials required.

Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.

Pushing carts loaded with materials is required

Frequent pushing of carts carrying materials weighing up to 700 lbs.

Must be able to work in cold room environment (i.e. refrigerators, freezers and temperature controlled warehouse).

Incumbent will be required to handle hazardous materials as well as infectious materials using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).

Typically, 2-5 years of successful experience in a warehouse environment

Good troubleshooting skills.

Good communication skills (written and verbal) to work with all levels of employees, management equipment vendors.

Candidate must have good interpersonal skills to work successfully within a team environment and be self-motivated to work independently.

Ability to utilize computers (i.e., Outlook, Microsoft Office 2010, SAP, etc.) and computer control systems.

Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment (i.e., powered industrial trucks) and tools.

Ability to perform basic math calculations and unit of measure conversions.

Ability to obtain Forklift Certification.

Must Have - Industrial - FORKLIFT and 0 years
