Description:
The Material Handler - Mechanical Kitting is responsible for accurately picking, staging, and delivering materials required to support production and customer orders. This position works within a warehouse and distribution facility, utilizing RF scanning devices and SAP to manage inventory transactions, fulfill production requirements, and maintain inventory accuracy. The Material Handler serves as a key link between warehouse operations and production by ensuring material availability, identifying inventory concerns, and communicating stock-related issues proactively.
Essential Responsibilities
Pick mechanical components, parts, and materials from warehouse racking locations to fulfill production and manufacturing orders.
Accurately kit materials according to production schedules, work orders, bills of material (BOMs), and customer requirements.
Utilize RF scanning devices to perform material movements, inventory transactions, and order confirmations.
Process inventory transactions and maintain accurate records within SAP.
Stage and deliver kits and materials to designated production areas in a timely manner.
Verify part numbers, quantities, lot numbers, and material specifications to ensure order accuracy.
Monitor inventory levels and report low stock, discrepancies, shortages, or potential material constraints to supervisors and planners.
Assist in cycle counting and inventory control activities to maintain inventory accuracy.
Investigate and answer questions regarding material availability, order status, kit completion, and inventory locations.
Collaborate with Production, Planning, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams to resolve material issues.
Maintain organized warehouse storage locations and ensure proper stock rotation practices.
Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and warehouse procedures.
Support receiving, put-away, replenishment, and other warehouse functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous warehouse, distribution, logistics, or material handling experience preferred.
Experience using RF scanners or handheld inventory management devices.
Experience working within SAP or similar ERP systems.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, pick lists, bills of material, and inventory documents.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts (certification preferred).
Ability to work safely in a warehouse and distribution environment.
