Description:Responsibilities:Assemble, install, and troubleshoot drivetrain components for performance testing to support product development.Collaborate with engineers on powertrain/drivetrain test systems involving engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulics, load brake, and Dynos.Work primarily on the shop floor (85% of time) in a team environment, requiring strong collaboration skills.Major Purpose:Conceptualizes, develops and evaluates new technologies and/or methods (mechanics, hydraulics, algorithms, software, etc.) to promote and maintain a competitive advantage. Plans and executes engineering work for product validation and verification of significant components of major projects or complete projects with more broadly defined objectives. Responsible for problem identification and resolution, corrective action tracking, reliability analysis and verification/validation test plan development.Major Duties:Evaluates new ideas, concepts or designs by obtaining specifications and/or operating loads to determine specific test procedures to be used to ensure the right solutions will be selected.Analyzes complex test data, draws conclusions and reports the information for company-wide use and product documentation.Plans and performs analytical and experimental work to obtain undefined operating loads and/or develop new test procedures.Provides test coordination and support (field and/or lab) to help achieve test plan goals and act as a liaison between test and engineering departments.Develops product verification and validation plans to qualify machines, components, software, etc. for production by developing and maintaining unit's analyzing tools and methods.Prepares and presents recommendations for product improvement to the design engineers, project teams and engineering management.Participates and may facilitate in design reviews or other problem solving efforts to help identify action items and build team consensus for solutions.Required Experience:Understanding of drivetrain systems.Experience in assembling and investigating drivetrain components.At least 2 years of experience with heavy equipment vehicles or components.Ability to adapt and prioritize tasks.Desired Experience:Knowledge of CAN communications codes related to diesel engines, aftertreatment, and drivetrain systemsProven experience in working with electrical control circuits for test/process equipment.Education:A 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience is required.Skills, Abilities, Knowledge:Familiarity with one or more of the following systems: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical.Skill in using company information systems and processes.Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge.Knowledge of industryProduct Verification & Validation processes and execution methodologies.Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit.
