Position Overview



The client is seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership at the client. Under the administrative direction of the Center CEO, the Medical Director will supervise medical staff, oversee the quality of psychiatric care, direct medical treatment programs, develop and implement clinical policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable medical, ethical, licensing, and regulatory standards.



Key Responsibilities


Supervise psychiatrists and other medical staff.

Direct, plan, and oversee psychiatric treatment programs and individual care services.

Maintain and improve the overall quality of clinical care.

Develop, implement, and monitor medical policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with medical ethics, licensing standards, and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Maintain regulatory readiness for agencies such as client CMS, and The Joint Commission.

Evaluate clinical interventions and implement improvements when necessary.

Monitor clinical staff performance and provide leadership for staffing and development.

Oversee clinical staffing levels and monitor overtime utilization.

Be available by phone outside of scheduled onsite work hours as needed.



Required Qualifications (MANDATORY)

Current Illinois Physician License to practice medicine.

American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Certification in Psychiatry, or equivalent.

Minimum three (3) years of substantive medical administrative experience directing, planning, and evaluating a medical/clinical program.

Experience supervising and coordinating multidisciplinary professional staff.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across professional disciplines.

Ability to successfully complete license verification, employment verification, background investigation, OIG sanctions review, and professional credential verification.

Must submit a resume meeting all required qualifications with the bid.



Preferred Qualifications

Experience serving as a Medical Director or psychiatric clinical leader in a state psychiatric hospital, behavioral health facility, or similar inpatient setting.

Experience with hospital accreditation and regulatory compliance (IDPH, CMS, The Joint Commission).

Executive-level leadership experience in behavioral health or psychiatric services.

Experience managing quality improvement initiatives and clinical operations.



Tools & Skills

Strong knowledge of psychiatric clinical practices.

Medical program administration.

Clinical policy development and implementation.

Quality assurance and performance improvement.

Knowledge of medical ethics, licensing requirements, and healthcare regulations.

Ability to oversee multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Understanding of HIPAA confidentiality requirements.

Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership and multidisciplinary teams.

37.5 hours per week

Monday through Friday

Generally, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
