Description:Scope:The client requires one or more Metadata Librarian Consultant(s) to support the migration process to ensure the successful transfer and enhancement of metadata for optimal discoverability and access of digital and physical collections.Specific TasksMetadata Evaluation and Migration Planning.Collaborate with the LSP vendor and client Research Library Metadata Technology and Access (MeTA) Team to assess existing metadata records and develop a comprehensive migration plan.Identify potential challenges and propose solutions for seamless metadata transfer.Work with client LSP Transition Team, including their Project Manager, to plan for integration of client Research Library records with those of the client Law Library and other client libraries.Interface with the LSP vendor, along with MeTA Team, on planning.Metadata Cleanup, Transformation, and Enhancement.Use various software tools and batch processes to clean and transform existing metadata records, ensuring compatibility of metadata with the new LSP.Where relevant, apply metadata standards such as MARC, Dublin Core, MODS, and RDA.Ensure consistent use of controlled vocabularies, subject headings, and name authorities (e.g., external standards such as LCSH, MeSH, LCNAF, VIAF, and internal vocabularies).Enrich metadata to improve resource discoverability.Implement additional metadata fields or elements as required by the new LSP.Quality Control and Validation.With the MeTA team and others as necessary, develop and implement quality control procedures for the migration process.Perform regular checks to ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the migration.Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during the quality control process.System Integration and Testing.Assist in the technical aspects of migrating metadata to the new LSP.Participate in system testing to verify proper functioning of metadata in the new shared client environment.Work with the MeTA team and the serials librarian to establish SUSHI processes, including: identifying SUSHI-compliant providers, gathering credentials, configuring SUSHI in the LSP, and setting up automated reports.Possible task, depending on time: Assist MeTA team and others with planning for further integrations into the Primo discovery layer, including Collibra data catalog, research repository content, and SharePoint collections.Project Reporting and Communication.Provide regular updates on project progress to the MeTA Team and other stakeholders.Prepare reports on metadata migration statistics, challenges, and successes.Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic discussions on metadata management.Create training materials for library staff.Additional Metadata Projects.Support metadata maintenance for internal content management systems (e.g., SharePoint libraries).Assist with name authority maintenance and taxonomy development.Contribute to other metadata-related projects as needed.Deliverables.
