Oracle DBA/Exadata Migration Specialist

This position is for an Oracle DBA expert to help client with the migration, tuning, and troubleshooting of the database environments from the Exadata X9 servers to the Exadata X11 environment.

Goal of Engagement:
1. Review current database Exadata architecture – create/help create a new Exadata database architecture.
2. Create/help create a migration strategy/plan.
3. Migrate/assist with migration of databases to new Exadata.
4. Provide tuning, troubleshooting, automation where required.

The consultant will complete the project in conjunction with the client personnel

Candidate must be experienced in Oracle Database Administration, Architecture, and Configuration with hands on experience in migrating databases to Exadata and cloud platforms using multiple methods and technologies. Experience with Oracle releases 19.x and 26.x, RMAN, Data Guard, scripting and automation is required. Familiarity with the full license feature set such as multitenancy, advanced compression, partitioning, cloud management pack is preferred. Hands on experience with Exadata Critical Patch updates preferred.

Experience migrating databases to/from Exadata platform. - 2 - 3+ - Experience using multiple methods and technologies with RMAN, and Data Guard required.
In depth knowledge of Oracle troubleshooting and complex problem diagnostics. - 3 - 5+ - Perform detailed, highly technical root cause analysis of Oracle database systems.
Experience in scripting solutions for automation of processes in Oracle database environments. - 2 - 3+ - Ability to create scripts to automate processes in the Oracle database environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills - 3 - 5+ - Excellent oral and written communication skills. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings; writes clearly and informatively; varies writing styles to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively.
Experience in Higher Education Environment - 0 - 2+ - Highly complex environment, with diverse stakeholders.

Additional details: May be some flex hours outside of normal 8-5pm related to maintenance processes.

Notes:
100% remote
Must be willing to work alternate shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and weekends during the engagement as required. The work will be done in the Central Time Zone (CST).
