Role Overview:
The client is hiring three Packaging Engineers to support compliance with the EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). These roles focus on collecting packaging data, supplier communication, documentation, and ensuring all packaging for EU bound products meets regulatory requirements.
Description of working tasks:
Responsibility for the design and modification of product-specific packaging for worldwide shipping in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. legal requirements)
During development, various standards, laws or guidelines must be complied with, both nationally and internationally. However, these are taught as part of training courses.
Organization and implementation of packaging tests
Experience in the field of packaging / packaging design
Top Priorities (Immediate Through August 2026)
Compile product and packaging lists across business lines.
Work with existing suppliers to collect material data and compliance documentation.
Verify packaging content to ensure no restricted substances are present.
Enter and maintain documentation in SAP and other PLM systems.
Travel as needed to inspect packaging onsite.
Required Qualifications
Engineering degree (Mechanical, Packaging, or Industrial preferred).
2+ years professional experience (not open to new graduates).
Experience reading engineering drawings.
Strong communication and independence—must interact confidently with suppliers and represent client at sites.
Experience in supplier quality, regulatory documentation, or similar environments.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
NX or Teamcenter experience
CAD experience (SolidWorks, Pro/E, etc.)
Knowledge of welding symbols
Regulatory experience (e.g., ROHS, FDA)
Experience with large scale packaging (e.g., medical device equipment, crating)
Knowledge / Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering specialization in Mechanical Engineering
More than 3 years of professional experience
1-2 years of experience in design
Basic knowledge of global regulatory requirements, in particular the EU Directive 2025/40 (PPWR) as well as the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC or the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 or similar directives
Experience in the field of "Sustainability – Circularity" in the field of packaging, transport and logistics processes as well as knowledge of corresponding global regulations
NX / Teamcenter (Expert) or comparable 3D CAD tools (i.e. Solidworks, Pro/E, Creo)
SAP knowledge (Advanced)
Welding technologies (basic) knowledge
Role Requirements:
May require travel to manufacturing sites to verify aspects of packaging. Driving proximity to client sites is a plus.
May also require visits to supplier sites around the US
Up to 25% travel could be expected
Experience Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum)
Experience:
2+ years overall experience required
3+ years of design experience preferred
Must-Have Skills
Manufacturing experience
Experience working directly with supplier vendors
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products
Familiarity with packaging engineering, including:
Testing methodologies
Material selection
Regulatory and legislative considerations
Nice-to-Have Skills
SAP experience within a manufacturing environment
Experience interfacing with part suppliers
Advanced or extended familiarity with Microsoft Suite
Additional hands-on packaging engineering experience (testing, materials, compliance)
