Engineer Product I - Electronics Systems (PCB Designer)Major Purpose:Design, modify and evaluate Printed Circuit Board (PCB) products for use in rugged environments to meet quality, delivery and cost goals using Computer Aided Design Tools (CAD). Operates in a team environment, uses technical judgment with oversight, and is considered the entry level design position.Major Duties:Responsible for placement of components and routing of electronic circuits to create a PCB layout in Xpedition CAD Software. This is done with guidance from experienced PCB engineers and with review and approval from the full team.Analyze technical requirements written by others to determine direction and then operate in a team environment, to finalize design solutions. Decisions are made within established guidelines, such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and reviewed by senior team members.Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure own work adheres to these. This also includes Design for Manufacturing (DFM).Provide input to design solutions and participate in design reviews that include the manufacturersWork within an established project management plan to achieve specific goalsCreate and maintain technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occurSupport the team in data maintenance, including peer checking components for the part libraryIdentify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures. As needed, contribute to projects that focus on improvements to close identified gaps.Other related duties as assignedEducation Required:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technical discipline or equivalent experienceOpen to applicants graduating in Spring 2026Preferred is a Bachelor’s of Electrical EngineeringSkills, Abilities, Knowledge:Strong verbal & written communication skillsProvides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policiesWorking knowledge of general concepts of electrical engineering, including but not limited to schematicsCAD Software Experience through school or workWorks with guidance (but not constant supervision) toget results using new and advanced engineering technologiesapply engineering principles to the design of PCBs while meeting DFM requirements.use the appropriate methods, tools, processes and softwaretechnically comprehend testing, manufacturing, quality control, and cost trade-offs of PCB design requirementsmeasure and report progress toward intermediate targets to make sure a project stays on trackmanage changes to the scope of the project or programStand-Out QualificationsExperience in electronics designExperience with PCB layout software, especially Xpedition and/or PADs ProDesign for Manufacturability (DFM) experienceExperience with switching power supplies and memory routing rulesExperience with design for Test (DFT)Experience with designing to harsh environmental specificationsUnderstanding of PCB fabrication, board level assembly practices, and industry standards such as IPC (Association Connecting Electronics Industries)Certified Interconnect Designer (CID) – Basic or Advanced through IPCTop 3 Skillsets:Communication skills-HighExperience with Electrical EngineeringExperience with CAD software (can be school projects)Notes:Shift hours: Core: 9am-6pm Flexible
