RemoteDescription:Position OverviewA Principal Engineer for software will be responsible for development of products and providing creative solutions associated with the design, development, and sustaining engineering for our new and existing software product portfolio. The successful candidate will possess solid “hands-on” technical abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for the architecture and design of a module/project, makes architecture and design choices for new product development, maintenance activities, field issue resolution etc.Responsible for technically leading maintenance activities, field issue resolution working with the local and globally distributed teams and with hands-on approach for solving issuesReviews and approves the design and code of a module/project/defect fixesDemonstrates customer focus by ensuring quality of software releases and timely resolution of field reported issuesResponsible for analyzing and understanding the requirements.Identifies key module/product level technical risks and assists project manager in developing mitigation and recovery planReview work products and ensure the quality of deliverablesProvides input to the test strategies at a product levelProvides guidance to development and test teams with respect to overall design and development.Leads and coaches the team members.Drives the application of principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and testing techniques.Owns and drives continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps.Qualifications / Experience and/or BackgroundBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Engineering discipline or equivalent is required.5+ years’ experience in a software engineering role, with experience in PC based applicationsExcellent software architecture, design and implementation skillsExpertise in development and maintenance of Software for PC Based/Embedded systemsStrong Object-Oriented development and design knowledge and experienceDeep understanding of technology & software development principles:Analysis and Design: Object oriented architecture, Design PatternsKnowledge on SQL Data Base, Working knowledge on SQL Server Express or pgSQL relational database.Development and Continuous Integration: Visual Studio/Eclipse, SVN, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, BitBucket, Jira etc.OS: Windows,Experience in technically leading project teams involving SW architects and SW design engineers.Demonstrated success in delivering results on technical challenges.Good understanding of Healthcare domain (regulations and standards) and Medical software development process.Personal CharacteristicsExcellent communication, inter-personal and leadership skillsFirm decision maker and shall possess good influencing skillsOpenness to collaborate in interest of project/organization.Proactive and self-driven, possesses due sense of urgencyShall possess systems mindset and good problem-solving abilities.Working with multisite teams, Quality conscious and Process & customer OrientedCoaching capabilities.Programming: C++, C#, .NET application developmentUnderstanding of Healthcare domain (regulations and standards) and Medical software development process.Experience in a regulated environmentNotes:Hours: 9-5 EST, 8-4 CSTIf local to office, will need to be onsite 3 times per week.
