Hybrid - at least twice a week- Tuesdays and WednesdaysDescription: JOB SUMMARY:The Project Cost Controller is in charge of cost controlling and reporting for client capital projects. The Project Cost Controller reports functionally to the Project Managers and directly to the Project Controls Manager. The Project Cost Controller role is to ensure that projects achieve their goals related to cost by driving predictable financial performance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES : Cost Estimating and Control:Responsible for controlling and monitoring all project expenditures, monitor commitments / exposure, engineering hours and cash flow.Establish and manage project budgets from inception to completion, ensuring all expenditures are tracked and aligned with financial goalsMonitor project progress and costs to identify potential variances and implement corrective actions proactively.Support Project Managers with project change management with cost impacts, ensuring contract terms are followed. Steward the Change Management Process.Analyze all additional charges or claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all potential projects costs are captured and properly recorded.Attend project review meetings with stakeholders and support Project Manager to explain the project financial situation to management.Actively contribute in development and global support of cost management and benchmarking tools as well as continuous improvement initiatives.Verify invoices for consistency with the contract terms and authorizing for payments.Monitoring contract budgets and expenditures and ensure compliance with best practices to avoid overrun. Document Control:Maintain and steward project folder with project related documents for quick referenceMaintain accurate and organized project financial records and documentation.Focal point on document control activities on assigned projects Communication and Liaison:Lead monthly cost review meetings on assigned projects to identify and proactively escalate cost related issuesCoordinate with Accounting (Finance team) on cost related items on assigned projects. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Previous client experience is a plusBachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or equivalent work experience.Five (5) years experience in project cost estimating and cost control role in petrochemicals, oil & gas, mining, infrastructure or nuclear industry or similar construction industryExperience in document control TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Minimal (less than 10%) COMPUTER SKILLS:Basic knowledge of Google Kite and Google suites (Sheets, Document, presentation)Proficient in Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Strong SAP or similar ERP software skillsExperience in either the Industrial Gas industry or Construction industry is highly desirable CRITICAL SKILLS:Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines - Strong analytical & organization skills with excellent attention to detail.Always act with personal integrity and transparencyExtremely organized and detail-orientedExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishGive and welcome feedback to team members and managementExhibit objectivity and openness to team member's viewsProactivePunctuality and professionalismAutonomy and self-initiative to proactively gather necessary information from cross-functional sourcesKnowledge of contract law and regulations CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred but not required) Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) (preferred but not required) Top 3 Must-Have Skills:Cost EstimatingCost ControlDocument Control Notes:Hybrid - at least twice a week- Tuesdays and Wednesdays8am to 4:30pm CTHours per week: 40hrs VIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
