Description: The Project Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and progress reporting in support of proposals and projects.Duties will typically be performed within an office setting during the Proposal and Engineering phases and then on site during Construction and Commissioning for local projects.Out of town projects may require periodic site visits General:Provide necessary information for establishing time objectives to meet project requirementsCoordinate client, engineering, and operations interfaces to ensure smooth and timely flow of informationProvide project management with information pertinent to the control of the project Basics:Develop, maintain, and communicate the project time scheduleUse the project time schedule to drive the execution and timely completion of the projectWork in accordance with the client scheduling procedures and requirementsCapture REX (Return of Experience) to promote continuous improvementContribute actively to the knowledge exchange within the Scheduling Team Proposal Phase:Participate in the execution strategy and develop the frame scheduleChallenge the duration and sequence-of-development / constructabilityPrepare the Basis of Schedule, including clear and specific assumptionsPrepare the Project Schedule Execution PlanUtilize REX analysis and knowledges for support during the client negotiation phase Project Baseline:Establish, maintain, and follow up plans and progress in accordance with internal proceduresDevelop baseline progress schedule using existing templates and/or reference projectsRevise and/or assign activity codes & WBS structure for baseline progress scheduleRevise and/or develop required layouts for baseline progress scheduleRevise and/or assign resources for baseline progress scheduleRevise and/or load manhours, quantities, and cost into baseline progress scheduleDevelop baseline progress curves using both early and late finish datesDevelop progress measurement tables for tracking of deliverables &/or quantities installedPrepare SMART presentations to discuss, summarize and validate the planning assumptions and basis Project Execution:Collect progress status from client, engineering, operations, suppliers, and third party entitiesAssist the technical team with internal schedules to control and monitor key tasks.Prepare forecast schedules based on actual project status and anticipated evolutionTrack the internal and external milestones versus the contract, target, and previous forecastUpdate progress curves using both earned and remaining (forecast) valuesAnalyze critical path(s), schedule variances, progress trends, and resource allocationDevelop and implement solutions / mitigation strategies for identified critical scenarios / problemsCommunicate status and analysis to project team via schedule layouts, written narrative, and briefingsAssist in the preparation of weekly and monthly reportsKeep a record of changes to the schedules via backup copy and “Maintain Baseline” function in P6Update the Bases of Schedule, including mitigation actions taken in the monthly update Construction:Assist the site manager and subcontractor manager with planningPerform quantity takeoffsConfirm local rates of production for determination of budget manhours & schedule durationRefine standard Schedule Specification for each ITB (Invitation to Bid)Review subcontractor schedules for adherence to project specifications and need datesUnderstand and challenge the subcontractors' plans before implementation into the main scheduleImport subcontractor schedules into the master progress schedule and make necessary logic tiesWalk jobsite and evaluate physical progressReview accuracy of subcontractor schedule updates and adherence to their initial planAnalyze subcontractor claims for delay and associated mitigation / recovery plansIncorporate contract changes into the master progress schedulePrepare schedules as requested or by anticipation, proposing scenarios and what-if simulationsBackup all Planning related as-builts and Lessons Learned to ensure benchmark and handover Education and Experience:Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience (10 Years Exp.)Minimum 10 years experience in EPC project schedulingMinimum 2 years experience of full-time jobsite schedulingLarge project experience preferredAbility to plan Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and CommissioningAbility to read and understand Plot Plans, PFDs, P&IDs, One-Line DiagramsFlexible with regards to travel (subject to individual project needs)Proficient with Primavera P6 scheduling software, including multi-file group projectsExperience with Physical Progress and Earned Value measurement systemsProficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and Microsoft OutlookAbility to balance strategic (big picture) thinking with tactical application (detail oriented)Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with competing prioritiesAbility to meet deadlines and fulfill customer requirementsStrong written & verbal communication skills including presentation delivery
