Job Description


Purpose of Position/Summary:
Provides psychological services to those patients hospitalized at the client site. Services provided include: Initial assessment of patients upon admission, administration/interpretation of psychometric testing, treatment planning, and individual/group therapy. Services are designed to aid in the stabilization of hospitalized patients necessary for discharge to a less restrictive environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Initial assessment
Consults and psychometric testing
Treatment documentation: therapy progress notes and treatment plans
Individual and group programs
Supervision of master level therapists
Directs and supervises treatment mall programs.
Uses technology for charting electronic information.

Job Requirements:
Possession of a valid license to practice psychology in the St of IN as issued by the IN Health Professions Bureau.
Endorsement as a health service provider in psychology (HSPP) preferred.
Must obtain CPR and Bridge Building certification, demonstrate ability to perform techniques, and maintain certification throughout employment.

Skill - Required / Desired - Amount of Experience
Valid license as a Psychologist by the St of IN Psychology Board. - Required - 3 Years
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. - Required - 3 Years
Knowledge of psychological theory, practice, and applicable laws pertaining to the practice of psychology in St of IN. - Required - 3 Years
Knowledge of the client rules and statutes and HIPAA regulations pertaining to patient privacy and confidentiality. - Required - 3 Years
Ability to use data to determine changing clinical needs of hospital population w/ability to plan and or alter psychological practice accordingly. - Required - 3 Years
Ability to administer, interpret, and incorporate psychological assessment materials to address salient diagnostic and treatment issues. - Required - 3 Years
Exp. in clinical settings with diverse adult populations, including geriatrics, preferably in an in-patient psychiatric or mental health facility. - Desired
Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions. - Required - 3 Years
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Required
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Required
Experience with Cerner. - Desired
Endorsement as a health service provider in psychology (HSPP) - Desired

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does provide direct supervision to one or more reports.

Difficulty of Work:
Incumbent needs to be flexible and adapt to changes such as taking on extra patient caseloads during a time of staff shortage. Incumbent must be able to maintain acceptable workflow and meet deadlines for completing various assessments and other projects. Work involves several variables in the administering of tests and counseling of patients. Must be able to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibility:
Position performs duties/responsibilities for their unit as well as other assigned units as indicated; Facilitates active treatment program/activities as scheduled and treatment plan participation.

Personal Work Relationships:
This position plays a leadership role in clinical staff coordination of psychological services. This requires the ability to communicate with other clinical staff within and outside the field of psychology. The position is responsible for providing training and seminars within the areas of expertise to other mental health professionals. Within the department of psychology, the position is also responsible for providing supervision to master’s level psychology staff, as well as performing department QI functions

Physical Effort:
Involves frequent sitting, lifting, bending, stooping, walking, and standing. Must be able to perform Bridge Building physical interventions and CPR.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a psychiatric hospital setting, primarily in an office environment. At times, the incumbent may be required to work different areas on or off grounds. Potential for physical injury related to patient behavior and management of that behavior.

Notes:
Position is on-site, Monday thru Friday, 40-hour week.
