Engineer Quality I - Quality Engineering

Major Purpose

  • This job fully integrates an individual into the engineering culture by performing specific quality engineering assignments that are limited in scope, depth and degree of skill required. Work plans and decisions are usually reviewed by others.

Major Duties

  • Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
  • Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
  • Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.
  • Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
  • Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level

Job Duties:

  • Provides quality planning, control, and improvement support for product development teams, manufacturing engineering, supply management, and manufacturing and/or distribution organizations to assure client product quality meets the customers' expectations. This includes the application of quality tools within the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) and Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP). Also supports application of quality tools with key suppliers as an integral element of quality planning.
  • Review warranty information, prioritize manufacturing related issues, create evidence packages and apply problem resolution techniques
  • Review Defects Per Unit Daily report for q-notes within zone and problem resolution techniques
  • Review daily Quality metrics to determine if there are questions from our wage force
  • Contain known issues found during inspection
  • Create Temporary Deviations per the client Work Instruction
  • Create Change Notice and send to shop floor inspectors and
  • Facilitate RCA's & NCCA's
  • Attend Final Product Audit Review and Audit Disposition
  • Lead Corrective Action on items found in Audit Disposition
  • Lead and Facilitate daily Non Conforming review
  • Monitor Zone DPU through SPC and investigate out of control conditions
  • Assure control plan execution, update as required

Required Skills:

  • 4-year Engineering Degree OR relevant work experience
  • Manager would prefer candidates with 1-3 years work experience as a Quality Engineer, but is willing to consider recent college graduates with an Engineering degree
  • Demonstrated Skills in Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action (8D)
  • Production floor experience.
  • Understanding of Mistake Proofing Techniques
  • Understanding of Control Plans and PFMEAs Manufacturing Statistical Methods (Control Charting /Capability Analysis)

Notes:

This position does involve some material handling, so candidates need to be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

May drive a client owned Gator on the shop floor after completing safety training.

100% Onsite position

3rd shift, 9:30 pm to 6:00 am. Some OT and weekends as needed.

Will be required to work the day shift while training – training period duration will depend on the level of the experience for the selected candidate. Shift hours during training: 6am – 2:30pm
