Description: JOB DUTIES:A 1 on 1 RN is needed for a student who requires health support and monitoring per candidate IEP. Student is medically complex and fragile and requires care and breathing treatments throughout the school day. The RN would accompany the student from candidate home to school on the bus, accompany candidate throughout the school day, and then return on the bus. RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluate health care needs of students and refer to appropriate specialist when necessary; administer immunizations and maintain records as deemed necessary by the school physician and in compliance with the client laws; administer medications and maintain records including dosages and untoward effects; educate students in personal hygiene and total health care; make medical appointments; assist with doctor's clinics to describe the student's condition to the physician and interpret the medical information to the student and candidate parents; keep current medical records on each student; conduct routine surveys and annual screenings; keep parents apprised of student health status; work with physicians at the Student Health Center and throughout the client; manage student emergencies related to accidents and health care; communicate student health care needs to the instructional and residence hall staff; and take sign language classes for communication with deaf students REQUIREMENTS:Active RN License in AZActive FPCCCPR/BLSVaccine HBCOVID Vaccine MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Registered Nurse licensed in AZ; evidence of completion of a physical assessment skills course; eligible for AZ School Nurse Certification; current CPR Certification SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Good knowledge of assessment and treatment of children four (4) to twenty-two (22) years of age; good planning, organization, and communication skills; injury assessment skills helpful. SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Three years of experience, education or experience in pediatric nursing or urgent care nursing; ability to work effectively with many people; knowledge of handicapped children; and physical assessment skills with sports injuriesAmerican Sign Language experience preferred TRAINING:Training will be provided either in the student's home or at school with candidate current RN and/or parent.
