Description:JOB DUTIES:A 1 on 1 RN is needed for a student who requires health support and monitoring per her IEP. Student is medically complex and fragile and requires care and breathing treatments throughout the school day. The RN would accompany the student from her home to school on the bus, accompany her throughout the school day, and then return on the bus.RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluate health care needs of students and refer to appropriate specialist when necessary; administer immunizations and maintain records as deemed necessary by the school physician and in compliance with client laws; administer medications and maintain records including dosages and untoward effects; educate students in personal hygiene and total health care; make medical appointments; assist with doctor's clinics to describe the student's condition to the physician and interpret the medical information to the student and his/her parents; keep current medical records on each student; conduct routine surveys and annual screenings; keep parents apprised of student health status; work with physicians at the Student Health Center and throughout the client; manage student emergencies related to accidents and health care; communicate student health care needs to the instructional and residence hall staff; and take sign language classes for communication with deaf studentsREQUIREMENTS:Active RN License in ST of AZActive FPCCCPR/BLSVaccine HBCOVID VaccineSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Good knowledge of assessment and treatment of children four (4) to twenty-two (22) years of age; good planning, organization, and communication skills; injury assessment skills helpful.SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required.SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:This position requires pre-employment drug testing and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of employment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Three years of experience, education or experience in pediatric nursing or urgent care nursing; ability to work effectively with many people; knowledge of handicapped children; and physical assessment skills with sports injuriesAmerican Sign Language experience preferredTRAINING:Training will be provided either in the student's home or at school with her current RN and/or parent.SCHEDULE:- 7:00am - 3:00pm (School hours) Monday- Thursday are full days and Friday is a partial day, but hours should not exceed 40 per week.
