Description:An RN is needed for the student health center. Students are medically complex, fragile and require care throughout the school day.Responsibilities:Assess student health needs and refer to specialists as necessary. Administer and prepare medications, documenting dosages and any side effects. Perform medical procedures such as G-tube feedings and maintain accurate health records. Educate students on personal hygiene and overall health. Support physician visits by describing student conditions and communicating medical information to students and parents. Conduct routine health screenings and keep medical records up to date. Inform parents of student health status and manage medical emergencies. Collaborate with school staff and healthcare providers. Communicate student health needs to instructional and residential staff. Answer the clinic phones. Accompany students on field trips and assist the senior nurse as needed. Obtain action plans as requested by the Senior nurse. Request, fax, and follow up on medical records. Maintain a clean and organized clinic, restocking supplies as necessary. Billing for medications. Reporting to the client when appropriate. Participation in sign language classes to support communication with deaf students is encouraged. Perform other duties as assigned. During downtime do clerical work, filing, organize charts/binders and other duties assigned by the Senior Nurse.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Registered Nurse licensed in AZ; evidence of completion of a physical assessment skills course; eligible for AZ School Nurse Certification; current CPR CertificationSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Strong knowledge of assessment and treatment for children and young adults aged 4 to 22. Demonstrates effective planning, organization, and communication skills. Skilled in injury assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking. Experience with G-tubes, EpiPens, and inhaler administration. Proactive and able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required.REQUIREMENTS:Active RN License in AZPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:One - Two years of experience, education or experience in pediatric nursing or urgent care nursing; ability to work effectively with many people; knowledge of handicapped children; and physical assessment skills with sports injuriesAmerican Sign Language experience preferredTRAINING:Training will be provided at the Student health center by an RN.Notes:OnsiteSCHEDULE: 7:00am - 3:00pm M-F (School hours), hours will not exceed 40 hours per week.
