Release and Environments Manager

Summary

• We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Release and Environments Manager to play a crucial role in streamlining our software delivery pipeline and ensuring the stability and reliability of our applications. This role will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and improvement of our pre-production and production environments, focusing on addressing current pain points and fostering a more efficient and transparent release process. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, a problem-solver, and possess a deep understanding of software development lifecycles and environment management best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive environment management strategy aligned with business needs and development practices.
• Define and enforce consistent environment naming conventions across all teams and applications, resolving current inconsistencies.
• Establish clear processes for environment provisioning, configuration, and decommissioning.
• Maintain a centralized repository of environment documentation, detailing configurations, dependencies, and access rights.
• Work with infrastructure and development teams to design and implement a comprehensive E2E pre-production environment that accurately reflects production.
• Oversee the provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of all environments, ensuring they meet performance and security requirements.
• Monitor environment health and proactively address potential issues.
• Coordinate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams and implement automation strategies for environment provisioning, configuration management, and deployment.
• Establish a clear and auditable process for tracking code deployments to specific environments.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of what code versions are deployed in each environment.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure code is properly tagged and documented for traceability.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive map of all environments, detailing their purpose, dependencies, and connections to other systems.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for environment-related issues.
• Collaborate with development, QA, operations, and security teams to ensure a smooth and efficient software delivery pipeline.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding release schedules, environment availability, and any potential issues.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute software releases across various environments, including dev, qa, pre-production and production.
• Manage the release calendar, ensuring alignment with project timelines and business priorities.
• Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to identify and resolve release-related issues.
• Implement and maintain robust rollback procedures for each environment.
• Conduct post-release reviews to identify areas for improvement in the release process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in release management, environment management, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and DevOps principles.
• Deep understanding of Agile methodologies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage complex dependencies and prioritize work
• Facilitation and presentation skills
• Experience with Agile project management tools
• Experience working with JIRA and Confluence
