Position Overview


Summary:
The main function of a research & development (R&D) engineer is to innovate, design, and develop new products, processes, and solutions through extensive research and development. A typical research & development engineer is responsible for turning ideas into viable products or systems, requiring a blend of creativity, scientific knowledge, and practical technical skills.

Job Responsibilities:
Identify and analyze customer needs, market trends, and technology advancements to propose new product research and development projects.
Plan and execute experimental test programs to evaluate materials, processes, and prototype models.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and marketing to determine the feasibility, cost implications, and market potential of new products.
Document each phase of the R&D process, ensuring that findings are recorded for patent applications, and compliance with regulation.
Utilize engineering software to simulate, model, and visualize designs, and make necessary improvements based on test results.
Stay current with industry standards and technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge and comply with regulatory demands.

Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to think creatively and outside the box.
A solid foundation in engineering principles and the ability to apply this knowledge in innovative ways.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.
Hands-on experience with process simulations and design experiments.
Excellent project management abilities from conception to delivery, including time management and prioritization.
Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaborating effectively with various departments and stakeholders.
